Wedding Hair: Where to Start
When it comes to your hair, there is no more important day for it to
look beautiful then your wedding day. Think back to the days when you
were a little girl and imagined yourself being the bride. Was your hair
up or down, completely veiled, or tiara setting high? Now, take that
vision and start your research. Go through your bridal magazines and
search online for the looks that you love, and the ones you have carried
around in your head.

As you gather information, take into consideration the hairstyles
that are going to compliment your dress. An updo is breath taking with a
backless gown, while the princess gown is paired with ringlets for the
most romantic look imaginable. Will you marry outside? The location and
environment should be considered, along with the weather. A beautiful
beach ceremony calls for a loose, flowing hairstyle that is
uncomplicated and a feeling of wellbeing for you to revel in. Next,
consider your stylist. Will you use the same hairdresser you have known
for years? Loyalty may be a virtue but when it comes to your big day,
you may want to bring in a stylist that specializes in wedding day
looks, or perhaps one that is accustomed to styling for the camera.
As you set forth in making your wedding plans, consider your hair as
early as possible. Resolve not to do any sort of chemical work to your
hair or radical cuts that have to be grown out. Focus on bringing it to
the healthiest state you can. If your hair is shorter than you wish for
your day, start letting it grow now and consider extensions if you feel
they are necessary. If you are planning an updo, be sure not to do any
sort of coloring on top. A two tone look is not going to be what you
were hoping for. Another option if you are growing your hair out or want
a more voluminous look is hair extensions and clip on.

That’s another advantage to using a professional stylist: you can
plan your look and execute using extensions before the big day to see if
that’s what you truly want. The stylist can then be prepared to work the
look the day of the wedding. Plan to meet with your stylist several
hours before you are due at the chapel. Rushing when your nerves may be
an issue is no way to prepare. Overestimate the time it will take to
prepare on the actual day, and let those in attendance to help you. Know
what your plan is.
This is your day and your look. Stick with what’s comfortable for
you. Normally, staying within your look is advisable. If you are sleek
and coifed, going big and wild won’t feel right to you, and will affect
the way you carry yourself. If the stylist asked to be hired for the
day, consider doing so, and then changing your look to a more relaxed
style for the reception. It’s your day. Live it large!
